With 72 years under its belt, Lowe's has provided an array of home improvement products through the years, including major and minor home appliances, hardware, electrical, plumbing, paint and building supplies. The company only offers repairs and services to store-bought appliances, but with over 10 brands supported and an ample list of premium protection plan benefits, customers can confide in Lowe's ability to offer the services they need.

Lowe's Appliance Repair Services

Appliance Repair Services - 5 / 5

Lowe's offers appliance repair services through the manufacturer's warranty and through their appliance protection plan. If the problem is covered by either of these, the appliance will be repaired by a certified technician at no cost. However, if it is not covered, repairs may be offered by the technician at the customer's expense. The protection plan promises basic benefits, such as functional part and labor coverage, normal wear and tear repair, and reinstallation coverage, among others. Unfortunately, the plan's terms and conditions mention that they do not cover accidental damage or abuse, routine maintenance and consumables, and cosmetic damage, unless specified. Here at ConsumersAdvocate we recommend customers to read the terms and conditions thoroughly to inform themselves on Lowe's protection plan features and restrictions. Lowe's also offers a replacement plan, but is only eligible for products that retail for less than $300, after all discounts have been applied. This excludes major appliances and water heaters.

Additional Services - 4.5 / 5

Lowe's does not offer home improvement or home maintenance features unless covered by their appliance protection plan. However, they offer technician-certified installations for their appliances, and their protection plan offers various premium benefits, such as a 30% payback reward benefit in case you end up not using your plan for repair issues, and a 50% reimbursement on preventative maintenance items, such as water and air filters.

Lowe's Customer Service and Reputation

Customer Service/Reputation - 4 / 5

Lowe's is not BBB accredited, but it has an A+ on their website. As it's common with long-standing companies, Lowe's has a low score on review sites like Trustpilot. Lowes does not mention a satisfaction guarantee on their repair services, but it typically offers a 30 day return policy on appliance purchases, and free functioning parts and labor coverage on appliances as long as the problem is covered by the manufacturer's warranty or their protection program.

I have an extended warranty and Lowes sent out Astro Appliance , Inc. on some issues regarding my washing machine. The technician, although very pleasant, did not speak English (he had only been in the states for 6 months from a Eastern European country) so it was very hard to communicate what I had been experiencing. I have had the machine for 4.5 years and know it's features, sounds & functions. Although he couldn't get the lock function to work and the "sensing" phase took a ridiculous amount of time, he could find nothing wrong. I will be asking for someone else to come out. Also, they did not set an appointment, instead just called and said they'd be there in 20 minutes. Luckily I... Read More

If I could give a negative star it would be for negative 5. I am not sure who would give this plan anything more than 1 star. I called around the 13th of September regarding my refrigerator and was told they could get here on 10/6. I then asked for that to be escalated due to our inability to use the refrigerator and was informed I would hear back within 2 to 3 business days. when I did not hear I called back and was informed that the person I originally spoke to did not make the appointment escalate it and I would now have to wait until 10/10 before anyone would arrive. FYI escalating means nothing to them as they did not arrive until 10/11. They deemed the refrigerator unrepairable and I... Read More

I made a claim with Lowe's Service Advantage around 8/17 expecting to have a technician come out in a few days to fix my broken dishwasher. In fact, Lowe's Service Advantage scheduled the appointment for 8/22 or 8/23. But then JDS Appliance Repair texted me at 4:50 on Friday 8/19 to say that they needed to reschedule the appointment because they needed to order a part. I'm not sure how they knew what part to order since they hadn't looked at the dishwasher yet. I tried repeatedly to get an appointment on the books so we could know what to expect and have a target but they said they could not book an appointment until the part came in. After repeatedly checking in on the status of the part,... Read More

I bought a Lowes Protection Plan with my washer/dryer. While under this plan my dryer would not heat; the first guy came; “fixed it with a fuse” and left. Did a load of laundry; would not dry the clothes although the dryer got hot. Called again; second company could not duplicate the issue and said if we get video proof it will help shorten the visit because will “verify”. Long story short - we did get video proof; submitted a 3rd claim - they “fixed” it - said 1st tech put belt back in backwards. Tried a load of laundry now; would not get hot; would not dry on normal cycle; tried again -still would not dry. Tried on Time of 100 minutes; got hot and dried. Called in for 4th claim to... I bought a Whirpool fridge from Lowes in October 2019. Since that time the icemaker has broken down four times. When I called about the 3rd breakdown I was told that if the icemaker broke a 4th time, Lowes would by the refridgerator back at full price. When I called the 4th time I was told a repairman would have to come out again. The repairman ordered a new electronic panel. When he replaced that panel, icemaker still did not work. The repairman called his supervisior to say that the unit could not be repaired. The supervisor was totally rude (I tride to explain the situation) and said that the repairman would have to find the source of the problem. Turns out a wire that goes from... Read More

8/15/2022

I’m a senior being taken advantage of. 7-20-22, after NUMEROUS phone calls, chat, & visit to store (where they told me to go), STILL unable to schedule repair for my ice maker. This was a 6 hour ordeal. Next day I SOMEHOW got a hold of a person who scheduled an appointment with an appliance company for following week. Called appliance co., & appointment was never scheduled. They were nice enough to help me, & sent a repair person a few days later. The guy said he ordered the new ice maker & it would be sent to house in several days, the call them back to have it installed. A week later, no ice maker. Called appliance co, they’re waiting on an authorization # from Lowes so they can order... Read More

Our LG refrigerator went out on June 20, 2022. I called Lowes extended warranty service center on the 21st. They scheduled a technician from A&E Factory Services to come out on July 12th from 8-5. The technician came out, diagnosed the problem, ordered parts and rescheduled to come back out on 3 August to repair the refrigerator. Technician came to repair refrigerator on 8/3/2022. He had ordered the control board and a new compressor. While here he replaced the control board but not the compressor. About an hour after he left, the refrigerator started making noises, like a grinding and rattling. Finally it made some loud clunking sounds and then went quiet. The refrigerator does not work... My rating is a big fat zero! The companies lowes contracts with are awful. 3 appts to have my dishwasher fixed and no one ever shows up. lowes solution is to Reschedule……with the same providers that didn’t show up the first time! What a waste of money for the protection plan……never, ever again. Still trying to get this fixed. Ugh!!!!
